Kidney Stones – Mutra Ashmari:-
A kidney stone also known as a Renal Calculus is a solid piece of
material which
is formed in the kidney from minerals in the Urine. A small stone may pass without
causing any symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size i.e. at least 3
mm, they can cause blockage of the Ureter. This leads to pain, that pain most commonly beginning
in the flank or lower back & often
radiating to the Groin, This is the cardinal
symptoms to identify Kidney stones in clinic. This pain is often known as colic & typically
comes in waves lasting 20 to 60 minutes. Other associated symptoms
includes: Nausea, Vomiting, Fever, Blood in the Urine, Pus in the Urine & painful urination. Blockage of the ureter can
cause decreased kidney
function & dilation of the kidney
nephritic syndrome. Most
stones form due to Genetics Factors, Environmental Factors & not drinking
enough Fluids. Kidney Stones Chemically Composed of Calcium, Struvite, Uric Acid & other compounds.
The diagnosis is mainly based on clinical Symptoms, Medical imaging
like USG Abdomen-Pelvis to conform Number, Size & Location of the Stone
& urine testing in case of blood & pus in the urine.
Urinary stones are typically classified by
their location 1. Kidney - Nephrolithiasis, 2. Ureter
-
Ureterolithiasis, 3. Bladder
- Cystolithiasis.
Ayurvedic perspective:-
Our Acharya explained 8 type of Ashmari based on deposition
in the organ like Pitta Ashmari - Gall bladder Stone, Shukrashmari - Stones in
Seminal Vesicles & Testis etc in this context mutrashmari-kidney stone need
to take.
While explaining in pain threshold gave a beautiful smiley
“Harivat Pranan Srunoti” means severity of pain like our enemy hit on our chest
with arrow, hit on back or spinal cord of a cat.
Treatment:-
1. Nirinjil Shatavari Paniyam (Sidda) method of preparation add
1 tsf of powder in 1 litter of hot water keep in over night or add 1 tsf of
powder in litter of water boil up to 1 bubble.
Dose:- for 4mm to 15mm stone 3
tsf with 3 litter Paniyam per Day up to 7 days then 2 tsf with 2 litter Paniyam
up to 15 days for prevention reoccurrence.
Flush therapy:- for 1-3 mm
stones in empty stomach need to drink 2 litters of paniyam with 2 to 4 hours
stones will comes out.
2. Stone Mash cap 1-0-1 after food.
3. Kalyana Kshara 3 pinch -0- 3 pinch before food.
4. Ghokshuradi Guggulu 2-0-2 after food.
Discussion:-
v Up to 15mm stone we can mange through these medications. If
stone size is more than 15mm need to advice lithotripsy operation.
v In clinically I observed that for 1-3 mm stones 2-3 hours
more than sufficient through flush therapy. For 4-8 mm stones 3-5 days, 8-12 mm
stones 5-7 days, for 12-15mm stones 10 days of medication is sufficient. For
prevention of reoccurrence 2 litter of Paniyam need to advice upto 15 days.
v Sometimes we observe burning Micturation light pain in penis
that indicated passing of stone through urine.
v Patya-Apatya:- there is no food restrictions just ovoid
calcium Rich food.
