PILONIDAL SINUS (PNS)

A pilonidal sinus (PNS) is a small hole or tunnel in the skin. It may fill with fluid or pus, causing the formation of a cyst or abscess. It occurs in the cleft at the top of the buttocks. A pilonidal cyst usually contains hair, dirt & debris. It can cause severe pain & can often become infected. If it becomes infected, it may ooze pus, blood & have a foul odor.

A PNS is a condition that mostly affects in men & is also common in young adults. It's also more common in people who sit a lot, like drivers etc.

Signs & Symptoms include:-

Pain when sitting or standing, swelling of the cyst, reddened, sore skin around the area, pus or blood draining from the abscess, causing a foul odor, hair protruding from the lesion, formation of more than one sinus tract or holes in the skin, You may also experience a low-grade fever but this is much less common.

(Fistula kit) Treatment:-

1.   KalyanaKashara:-3 pinch -0- 3 pinch take in a mouthleave it for 2-3 minutes then drink Luke warm water (PaniyaKshara)

2. RasnadiLepa :RasnadiChurna mixed with tamarind juicethan apply. ( in Ama condition that is closed abscess)

3.  KasesadiGhrutha:-External application advice to applyon abscess. ( in Nirama Condition)
4.  Gandakavati:-1-0-1 capsule after food.

5.  PanchatiktagugguluGhrutha:- 1 tsf with hot water Afterfood 2 times a day.

6.  AvipattikaraChurna:-1tsf with hot water after food 2 times a day.

Lancing procedure:-      This procedure alleviates symptoms from an abscess or a collection of pus inside the sinus. Before this procedure, check & conform abscess become Niramai.e abscess become PakaAvasta then open the abscess. If its Nirama condition advice to apply RasnadiChurna for 2-3 days.

Syringing Procedure:-


          If the track is open, drain the pus completely then KaseasediGhrutha mixed with kshirabalaTaila is load in a 5-10ml syringe (without needle) then insert in opened fistula push with pressure. Through this procedure we can manage fistula without Kshara sutra.
Inject Kasisadi Injection into the cyst. This procedure need to repeat 2 to 3 times. This treatment will heal the tract & infection. one week & many people don't require any further treatment.

Clinical discussion:-

Regularly remove hair or shave the site & pay particular attention to hygiene

  InAma condition that is severe pain, inflamed, sometimes swollen skin, blood and pus seeping from the wound site, a foul odor coming from the wound. In this condition apply RasnadiLepa. After NiramLakshana immediately all the symptoms will stops. Than go for Kasisadi Injection

• Sometimes condition of access is very bad, at that time better to advice for surgery.
